High Five Strengths Finder
High 5 Strengths Finder (45 min)
To begin our first steps into your Career Reflection journey, we'll do a free strengths-finder exercise, paired with a short journal entry reflecting on your results.
Here are the steps for this assignment:
1: Go to High 5 for Individuals: Strengths Test Links to an external site., click on Find Your Top 5 Strengths, and sign in with your email address.
2. Take the High 5 test (20-30 minutes). Use the slider to move left to right along the line to find your level of agreement or disagreement with the statement. Neutral is in the center; the further left you move, the stronger your disagreement, and the further right you move, the more you agree.
3. Get your results! Write down your High 5 categories and read through the descriptions. NOTE: you do not have to pay for the Full Report offered on this page. The free results will be perfectly sufficient for us!
4. Write down your High 5 strengths and then answer the following questions:
- Do these seem accurate? Do they seem like "you" based on your current motivations? How so?
- Are there any surprises or things you disagree with in the results?
- Have you had any past work experience where these strengths have been beneficial?
- Which of these strengths do you think align well with your internship or career goals? How so?
Discussion Topic
For this week’s discussion, I’d like you to identify and share up to 2 strengths that you bring to your internship. If you are unsure of your strengths or have never completed a strength assessment you can complete a free top 5 strengths test by navigating to the HIGH5 website provided in this week’s Readings section. You do not have to pay for the full report unless that’s important to you-- your top 5 strengths are free.
In this discussion, please respond to all of the following:
- Share 2 strengths that you have
- How have you applied these strengths in college, on a job, or in your personal life?
- In what ways do you see yourself applying these strengths during your internship?
