One of the most pivotal learning activities for a new intern is an agency orientation. A planned and well-organized orientation to the agency during the first few days and/or weeks of the field placement is an invaluable experience.

The Orientation Checklist document linked below provides a list of items that should be reviewed during the orientation. The student and Field Instructor will review the checklist and devise a plan for the student to become familiar with each of the elements related to agency policies, procedures, and protocols, as well as the different responsibilities of each party involved.

The student and Field Instructor will also sign the document linked below, indicating that each item/task has been reviewed, and the student demonstrates fundamental knowledge about each element. The student will then submit the completed checklist to the course by _________________.

To complete the Orientation Checklist, please do the following:

Step 1. Download and print the Orientation Checklist document.

Step 2. Take this checklist to your agency orientation and review it with your Field Instructor to devise a plan together for you to become familiar with each of the elements on the checklist.

Step 3. Secure the signature of your Field Instructor, and sign your own signature on the appropriate lines.

After you have completed the Orientation Checklist document, you will submit a scanned copy using the assignment link.
