Part I: A Letter to Your Future Self

Write a 1-2 page letter to your future self--the "you" at the end of this course weeks from now.

This letter needs to have the following components:

  • An Introduction: Say hi to your future self and who you want to be in a few weeks at the end of the internship/semester.
    • What do you hope to have learned over the course of the internship and semester?
    • What do you hope to gain from your school work here in Canvas as well?
  • A list of goals, one for each credit you're taking this Internship class for.
  • A brief paragraph about WHY these goals are important to you. How do they relate to your degree plan and your overall goals for your career?

Have fun with this assignment! This letter is for you, so feel free to use your personality and address your future self in a way that makes sense to you.

For instance, you can start your letter with "Dear Intern Who Got Offered A Job" or "Dear Older, Wiser, and 10-Pounds Slimmer Future Version of Myself." Put your hopes and dreams out there!

This letter is an exercise in goal setting and planning, and it is very personal. So I want you to feel free to write in a personally meaningful way. I'm not looking for any certain format or formal style; as long as the letter includes the three things in the bullet points above, then any individual interpretation is fine with me (and encouraged).
